Back to the craziness of my normal life! I guess that's what I get for complaining of a plateau period...
Tyson started basketball on Tuesday. I know both of his coaches & they're great guys who are less concerned about winning than teaching the boys & giving everyone play time, so I'm thrilled! Tyson's really enjoying this & the schedule is much more convenient than other sports have been, since both of the coaches actually work until 5:00, so practice is from 5:30-6:00 on Tues & Thurs., with games on Saturdays.
So, this Saturday is his first game. I was going to have my candle party afterward, but I've rescheduled it to the following Saturday & it will be my starter show, because I'm going to become a consultant! This means that I'll be earning points toward a trip to Aruba, as well as actual income, along with free stuff & discounts on candles. I'm really hoping I can make it work & not totally burn myself out. I will also be working in the 3-4 y/o classroom at church on Sunday, as I've mentioned before, so I went over the curriculum last night & gasped in horror! I mean, we're talking a real class here, not just babysitting! I think I can handle it, but it will be a lot more work than I initially thought!
On top of all this, I've agreed to do some backup transcription while the regular lady is out of town for four different days & five different docs! This will be the same weekend as my candle party! I'm probably crazy, but it helps to keep busy& extra cash is always nice!

do you have a fear of boredom? i envy your go-getterness! (yeah, it's a word). i am excited about your candle career and i will do a show for you if you would like me to be one of your initial 6.
Fear of boredom? Actually, I'm thinking yes...I never used to; I'm such an avid reader that if I found downtime, I could always fall back on that - I still love to read, so I don't know what's going on! (Sidebar: I'm now 17th on the reserve list for A Breath of Snow & Ashes!)
Twyla, you are such a good friend! I felt so bad when I came home last night & heard your message (Tyson & I went to the mall & bought karoake revolution for his xbox - it's so fun)! I've been emailing you all the changes, because there are some people I have to call & others that I can email all at once, so that saves me a ton of time. By now, you've probably read the emails, so you know I really didn't try to leave you out of the loop! I can't believe you're willing to host yet another party - you are still having yours tomorrow at 2pm, right? Of course, your booking would be terrific! I'm really excited about this little venture, too! Can't wait to see you! XOXO
So, what do you do in your spare time? roflmao. Nothing like overachieving, eh? ;0)
I've got to admit, I gave up on the Highlander series. I like reading the reactions of real-time when they find out about it, but just couldn't keep interested in the time that she traveled to. Oh well...now I'm trying out Tami Hoag. I've always seen her stuff in my section, but hadn't read anything by her until now. Just finished "Ashes to Ashes" and am about to start "Dust to Dust". Pretty good stuff! Of course Iris Johansen is still my favorite. Here's a website for her stuff so you can check it out (even has a page to get to know the characters that I was telling you about that overlap books): http://www.randomhouse.com/bantamdell/johansen/
I'm so bummed that you didn't have the same response to the Outlander series as I did, but that's ok...I've heard of Tami Hoag, but can't remember if I've read anything of hers. You'll have to let me know what you think. In the meantime, I'll check out this website & maybe an Iris Johansen book while I wait for A Breath of Snow and Ashes.
I guess I'm just not a history buff. I did like the time-travel aspect, but just couldn't get into the era... maybe if it was another time. I actually was pleasantly surprised by Tami Hoag's book. It was pretty good. Not one (so far) that I have to go out and buy all of her books like with some of the others, but then again I think Ashes to Ashes is a pretty old one. I'll have to read several more to see if her style works for me as one of the "must-haves". Definitely check out Iris though! I recently read "Wind Dancer", but wouldn't reccommend starting with that one 'cuz it's back in time and it was neat reading about the statue "Wind Dancer" in present time, then reading one that was more about the origins of the statue. Anyway, I think you'll love her heroins. Maybe start with an Eve Duncan one...she's my favorite character. ;0)
I would never consider myself a history buff, but I actually did prefer the times when they were in the past...I am SO tempted every time I pass the library (pretty much daily, on my bank run for work!) to swing in & pick up an Iris Johansen, but then I remind myself that I won't have any time to read at all for the next week or two...bummer!
